Petroglyph Museum

12 halls

The Petroglyph Museum opened on 26 December 2011 and at once became one of the most modern in the country. In 2013 it received a special award from the "European Museum of the Year" competition (EMYA).

12 halls

Twelve permanent exhibitions lead the visitor from an era roughly 17,000 years ago to the present day. The museum holds more than 100,000 archaeological objects.

Interactive

Multilingual touchscreens, projections of the carvings onto the walls and ceiling, a 3D simulation of flight over the reserve, and a cinema seating about 45.

A global context

A dedicated section places Gobustan among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites — to help visitors grasp the monument's place in the history of humankind.
